This is a list of known period-8 sparkers. Period 8 is at the limit of JLS, WLS, and similar programs; while they can be found, it requires a good amount of luck and several months, and objects being searched for are not guaranteed to exist.
Dot sparkers and functional dot sparkers
Blocker. Used as a corner dot spark. Can also be used as an obo! spark in some circumstances (click above to open LifeViewer) RLE: here Plaintext: here |
Kok's galaxy: A stronger corner dot spark, and sometimes has uses as a more complex spark in the generation before the one with the corner dots (click above to open LifeViewer) RLE: here Plaintext: here |
58P8, sometimes called "Obscure p8". Works like a blocker, and can sometimes reduce guns' bounding boxes. Two stator variants are shown (click above to open LifeViewer) RLE: here Plaintext: here |
p8 T-nose by 2718281828 on February 13, 2019. Often used in situations with limited side clearance (click above to open LifeViewer) RLE: here Plaintext: here |
Coe's p8. The spark comes from the block in grin form (click above to open LifeViewer) RLE: here Plaintext: here |
209P8. It is large but powerful, and is the only p8 middleweight sparker with side sparks (click above to open LifeViewer) RLE: here Plaintext: here |
Domino sparkers
Edgy domino sparks can sometimes be used as dots.
Figure eight. While it often fails, it's always worth checking; it's very small, and there are some situations where the figure eight is the only thing that works (click above to open LifeViewer) RLE: here Plaintext: here |
36P8. It can be used when figure eight fails. Found by Achim Flammenkamp on August 26, 1994 (click above to open LifeViewer) RLE: here Plaintext: here |
76P8. There are no side sparks, unlike 180P8. It can only be used if the active reaction recedes by generation 4 (click above to open LifeViewer) RLE: here Plaintext: here |
180P8: It is strong but large. It is much smaller than the similar 678P7, though, and it sometimes allows more complex sparks. This is a heavyweight sparker; unlike 76P8, there are side sparks (click above to open LifeViewer) RLE: here Plaintext: here |
Smiley. While typically only good for LCMs, there might be a niche use elsewhere (click above to open LifeViewer) RLE: here Plaintext: here |
