- This article is about the spaceship. For the catalyst, see Beehive push catalyst.
Hivenudger is a period-4 c/2 orthogonal spaceship found by Hartmut Holzwart in July 1992 and named by Bill Gosper. It consists of a pre-beehive which is escorted by four standard spaceships. The variant shown in the infobox uses four lightweight spaceships.
Variants
There are a total of 45 basic (i.e. using only standard spaceships and a single pre-beehive) variants of the hivenudger that can be created by mixing and matching standard spaceships accordingly:
- three (one each) with all four the same (lightweight spaceships, middleweight spaceships, or heavyweight spaceships)
- twelve with three of one type and one of another type, with two of each possibility (e.g. three lightweight and one middleweight)
- twelve with two of one type and two of another type, with four of each possibility (e.g. two lightweight and two middleweight)
- eighteen with two of one type and one each of the other two types, with six of each possibility (e.g. two lightweight, one middleweight, and one heavyweight)
All variants have been synthesized. A full list is available at List of hivenudgers.
Further hivenudger "variants" can be created by replacing either back spaceship with a sidecar, a Coe ship, a hammerhead, a Pushalong 1 or another hivenudger.
