98P25 is an unnamed period-25 oscillator discovered by Noam Elkies in October 2002. In terms of minimum population, it was the smallest known period-25 oscillator until the discovery of an improved version of the pattern.[1][note 1] The improved version, found by Matthias Merzenich on January 10, 2016, replaces the west and east fumaroles with eater 1s.[2]
