Template:Refn

This template can be used to add footnotes to articles, separate from references. Footnotes can be separated into different groups.

To add footnotes, first add the notes themselves in the following manner:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.{{refn|group=note|Consectetur adipiscing elit.}}

Then add a footnote section:

==Notes==
<references group="note" />

Footnotes will appear in the article text as follows:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.[note 1]
[...]

Notes

  1. Consectetur adipiscing elit.

To use different groups of footnotes, simply pass different values for the group= parameter, and add one references section for each group. See the Catagolue article for an example.

Note: An equal sign within the footnote text (or within a link) will cause MediaWiki to misinterpret it as a named parameter, and will result in an error. To fix this, simply put two pairs of curly brackets around the equal sign: {{=}}
