62P83 (or p83 R-pentomino hassler) is a period-83 oscillator discovered by Mitchell Riley on July 5, 2022 using the symmetric variant of the CatForce search program.[1] It is one of few known high-period prime-period oscillators not based on adjustable signal loops.

An intermediate 2x2 patch of Block agar forms in the middle for a few ticks.

Upon its discovery, iNoMed created a gun using two copies of the oscillator.[2]

On December 13, 2023, Chris857 lowered the synthesis cost from 26 to 23 gliders.[3][4]
