Fireship[1] is a c/10 orthogonal spaceship discovered by Simon Ekström on 20 March 2016[2] when looking for tagalongs for the copperhead. It is not considered a true tagalong (although it is commonly referred to as one) due to three of the tagalong's ten phases interacting with the copperhead's block.[3]

Due to the huge tail spark it produces, it has been used to create c/10 puffers and rakes using a glider loop system.

A glider can be reflected by a fireship.

Reactions

Tanner Jacobi noticed that the rear end of the fireship can be attached to two other fireships, thus allowing for ships of arbitrary size,[4] and these are true tagalongs. Nico Brown built a puffer and a rake using copperheads with tagalongs to make a signal loop.[5]

Cottonmouth

A pushalong for both the copperhead and the fireship known as the cottonmouth was found by AforAmpere on March 24, 2018. Because its front end matches that of the fireship, it can be infinitely placed on itself.[6]

Beehive tagalong

On October 11, 2018, christoph.r discovered that a flotilla of three fireships could support a beehive tagalong, increasing the ship's period to 20.[7]

Synthesis

Nico Brown found a 30-glider synthesis of the fireship on March 21, 2016.[8] Goldtiger997 and gmc_nxtman found a 20-glider synthesis of the fireship on July 11, 2017.[9]
