Notability?

I've tagged this article because I personally think we might be pushing it a bit with this one. It's not that I want to see this article go, I just want to perhaps get some discussion going about where we draw the line between what oscillators we do and don't add pages for, before we end up with 1000 oscillators in the LifeWiki, about 10% of which are unique in some way. There are a couple hundred new oscillators found every year, and this one doesn't seem to be particularly special as far as I can tell (not the smallest of its period or particularly useful for making oscillators of other periods). Thoughts? Nathaniel 18:11, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

This oscillator provides enough of a spark that it may be non-trivially combined with snacker to form the smallest known non-trivial period 63 oscillator. For several of the compound oscillators small period 7 sparkers have been necessary; this is the reason for the existence of 37P7.1, 38P7.2, 41P7.2, 44P7.2 (as a side note, mold on 41P7.2 with 53 cells would be smaller than pre-pulsar shuttle 28). Since these combinations are not in most pattern collections (I have had to find most of them), I have created pages for some other oscillators that, at the time, I thought were the smallest of their period. From what I can remember they are unix on 44P7.2, pentadecathlon on snacker, and pentadecathlon on 38P7.2. As for this page, I'll add a note on its sparks as well as a link to snacker on 38P7.2.
As for 88P28, I suppose I added because I like it. It is interesting for its uniqueness in hassling non-standard objects (Standard objects I suppose would be like R-pentominoes, Pi-heptominoes, gliders, pre-pulsars etc.). I added the oscillators 46P22 and 48P22 on personal interest as well, and so they should perhaps also have notability tags (I may provide defenses for these oscillators later if I feel it necessary).

Here's the RLE pattern for "mold on 41P7.2" (note generation 13)
