Puffer 2 was the second puffer to be found and was discovered by Bill Gosper. It is extremely dirty and its tail does not stabilize until generation 5533, after which it stays at period 140. It consists of a B-heptomino (shown here one generation before its standard form) escorted by two lightweight spaceships. Its debris can be stabilized by a third lightweight spaceship as in ecologist. A pulsar is formed at the south-western side in generation 4957.
