There are two important natural ships, a c/2 ship (G) and a 7c/15 ship which travels almost as fast as the c/2 ship.
For the G the X-pentomino is a stable splitter with min. repeat time 10. The X can be pushed with a relatively long-lasting reaction by 1 unit. The pre-block can act as an eater for the G, thus we have guns and oscillators for all p>9.
For the 7c/15 ship the X and the pre-block can act as an eater:
Code: Select all
x = 74, y = 30, rule = B2ei3eiq4acrtw5cq7e/S2-i3iny4aejnqrt5e6in7c8

As raised an idea above, the rule will surely give a (relatively) small orthogonoid that is very fast. The idea is simple. First shoot a 7c/15 ship and then catch it by a G to get a construction still life (or oscillator) that is far away. Fortunately there is one back-collision of the 7c/15 ship with the G that destroyes both ships and leaves an X.
We have all relevant commands for slow-salvo construction/destruction for taking the +1 1G-command as shooting target. We have push/pull commands, flip commands (for destruction) and fire commands for the three most frequent natural ship (the remaining one is a 4c/8 ship). An illustration, for a starting part:
Code: Select all
x = 284, y = 49, rule = B2ei3eiq4acrtw5cq7e/S2-i3iny4aejnqrt5e6in7c8

Then the X must be split, and then moved/pushed to the right location for the upper part (the two X of the elbow). For the lower part (the reflector - the X+pre-block) it works similarly. But the 7c/15 ship must be catched by a G roughly at half of the way. And the construct the reflector. Note, that everything can be constructed by slow salvos starting shooting at the X. Here some slow salvo operation: The two right ones are a slow-salvo splitting operator such as a side-fire operator. The latter one can be used to push the objects to the right position.
