Well, for a start, there are a finite amount of possible INT rules, and there are probably some rules that can be proven impossible to be omniperiodic, such as B/S, B/S012345678, all rules with B1c (since no stable object can exist within them), and probably some more.

She/they/he means rules that are ominiperiodic, so there’re an infinite amount of rules(rule tables, or ltl, for example)
Like this pattern(in your CoordCA)

Code: Select all

 x=0,y=0,rule=1920004200049-3_3_2-3
4bo$5bo$3b3o$7bo$8bo$6b3o$bo2bo2bo$2bo2bo2bo$9o!
(just some sort of 23/3)
Rule modifier

B34kz5e7c8/S23-a4ityz5k
b2n3-q5y6cn7s23-k4c8
B3-kq6cn8/S2-i3-a4ciyz8
B3-kq4z5e7c8/S2-ci3-a4ciq5ek6eik7

Does anyone know if there are any oscillators in the day and night cellular automaton that have constant filled areas in them big enough to fit an antioscilator, and which antioscillators can fit inside it?

P.S. If you can do more than one layer with the oscillator, feel free to.

What OTCA rules are reversible?
It seems B012345678/S, B/S012345678, B1357/S02468 (fredkin), B1357/S1357, and others are. Does anyone have a full list?

Fredkin and Replicator are reversible rules, since no two patterns lead to the same pattern.

So what is the reverse rule?

Just because they're reversible doesn't mean that a cellular automaton can run them backwards; for example the predecessor of this pattern is a complicated fractal (thus showing that the predecessor function can be arbitrarily nonlocal):

Code: Select all

x = 513, y = 513, rule = B1357/S1357
o255bo255bo256$o511bo256$o255bo255bo!
Every finite pattern in Fredkin has at least 1 possibly infinite predecessor, consisting of XOR-pasting this infinite block array for every on cell:

Code: Select all

x = 37, y = 38, rule = B1357/S02468
11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o2$11b2ob2ob
2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o2$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob
2ob2ob2ob2o$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o2$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob
2o$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o2$o2bo2bo4b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o$
11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o2$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o$11b2ob2ob
2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o2$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob
2ob2ob2ob2o2$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob
2o2$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o$11b2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2ob2o6$24bo
3$24bo3$24bo!
For Replicator, you can do the same thing but with the limit of all generation 2^n-1 (the one where every cell dies), but it's much harder to describe and discover interesting results from.

To determine if a pattern has any finite predecessors, find a way to XOR-paste copies of generation 1 of a single cell that generates the same result (you can do this systematically by repeatedly pasting over the leftmost cell in the topmost row with the northwest corner of the generation 1 pattern). If a Fredkin pattern has a finite predecessor, the blocks will all cancel out, leaving the desired finite predecessor (if you do this in Replicator, they won't cancel out because the single cell predecessor is aperiodic).

Also, if a pattern is a p1 wick/agar in Replicator, you can XOR the infinite version of it onto any Fredkin pattern and it'll still behave the same, and vice versa.
Any sufficiently advanced software is indistinguishable from malice.

Is there a general thread for methuselah that is non-CGOL?
I just found a methuselah that lasts about 481988 ticks.

Apparently there's one dedicated to <10 cells methuselahs.

it's like JVN29 but there are less states; problem is that makes reps way bigger

here's an example of a pattern:

Code: Select all

x = 42, y = 11, rule = Codd

Does the -B3kq, +B4j modifier have a name? I would personally opt for "mirror", since B3-kq4j/S23 is life but every still life[citation needed] is a reflector. Also, does B3-kq4j/S23 have a name?

EDIT: WHAT IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A THREAD???

Can somebody de-rake or corderise this thing while preserving the displacement?

Well, there's always the trivial example of Life, with the 0E0P metacell as the replicator, synthesizeable in 32 gliders, via RCT

Obviously that's not what you want though
I don't really know of any good examples of what you want, except highlife.

B36/S245 has this property, but the replicator is much rarer: 126 replicator-producing soups out of 9.6 billion C1 soups:

Not in INT, no. For non-B0 INT, (x,y)/t is bounded such that x+y<=t.
I manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules. I also wrote EPE, a tool for searching in the INT rulespace.

Things to work on:
- Find (7,1)c/8 and 9c/10 ships in non-B0 INT.
- EPE improvements.
