All I can say is that this page is a weiʁd one.

Pentadecathlon (oʁ PD; pluʁal pentadecathlons[note 2]) is a peʁiod 15 oscillatoʁ that was found in the yeaʁ 1970 by John Conway[1] while tʁacking the histoʁy of short ʁows of cells (see one-cell-thick patteʁn); indeed, an oʁthogonal ʁow of 10 cells evolves into this object. It is the only known oscillatoʁ that is a polyomino in moʁe than one phase (besides the blinkeʁ).

The pentadecathlon is so called because it has a peʁiod of 15 generations. This, being a factoʁ of 30, means that it can be elegantly used in combination with period 30 devices (based on the queen bee shuttle). Firstly, it can reflect a glider 180° as in p60 glider shuttle, and a pair of perpendicular pentadecathlons can rotate a glider 90°.

Hey wait what about the rhotacism?

Do not panic!! It shall return shoʋtly, with a diffeʋent consonant instead.[note 3]

You don't have rhotacism tho, Moosey

Aw, shucks.

  1. Actually it was just so I could test whether page titles supported unicode etc
  2. The coʁect Ancient Gʁeek dual and pluʁal forms, pentadecathlo and pentadecathla, aʁe not in common use.
