Pattern pages for non-standard rules?

What do people think about having pattern pages for rules other than Conway's Life (such as HighLife, provided there's actually quite a few patterns for that rule of course)? The reason I ask is that there are probably 50 or so complex constructed patterns for the HighLife rule, most of which are probably worth a mention, and they certainly won't all fit on one page.

If we do make pattern pages for another rule, the issue arises of distinguishing them from standard Conway patterns. We could of course add to the pattern box at the right a "rules" section that lists the rules that the pattern works in, but should the page names be altered as well? As an example, if we had a page for the Bomber spaceship, should we name it Bomber_(HighLife) or just Bomber? Any other thoughts/concerns? Nathaniel 15:02, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

  • The idea of putting the rules in the pattern box seems a good idea, although changing the names of the pages to show the rule may be difficult if patterns work in more than one rule, and not necessary unless there are 2 different patterns in different rules with the same name. Error in spaceships section?

This page states that 86P9H3V0 and the turtle are both compatible with highlife. The turtle seems fine, but 86P9H3V0 links to 117P9H3V0 which does not appear to be compatible with highlife. Can someone else check this out, and delete link if necessary. Jsorr 05:11, 12 September 2011 (CDT)

86P9H3V0 is actually the second spaceship listed in the image gallery at 117P9H3V0 (it doesn't have its own page). I've explicitly mentioned its name (or lack of name, I suppose) on that page now to hopefully clarify this. However, seeing as it is one of the very few known spaceships that works in both regular Life and HighLife, it may warrant its own page if someone is up to the task of creating it. Honey farm predecessors

Honey farm predecessors do not die out, they simply evolve into four boats instead. -wwei23 10:12PM 9/21/2015 NY time

What is this ship? I've never heard of it before and it's not listed in Eppstein's glider database. --A for awesome (talk) 01:23, 21 June 2016 (UTC)
