Grin reagent is a catalyst that is extremely sensitive to a grin, and will react to it to create another grin. This allows a p12 oscillator to be made:

x = 32, y = 32, rule = B3/S23 18b2o$19bo$18bo$12b2o4b2o$13bo2b2o3bo$13bobo2b4o$14bobobo$16bob4o$15bo 2bo2bo$11b2o2bob4o$4b2ob2o2bo$5bobobobo4b2ob4o$2obobo3bob2o3b2obo2bo5b o$ob2ob2o2bo16b3o$4bo2bobob2o12bo$4bob2obob2o2b2o5b2o2bo$5bo2bo5bo2bo 2bo3b2obo$6bo12bo2bobo2bo$3b3o8bo5bobo2b2ob2obo$3bo5bo2bo3bo2b2obo3bob ob2o$9b5obo4bobobobo$20bo2b2ob2o$11b5o3b2o$10bo5bo$10b2o2b2o$13bobobo$ 10b4o2bobo$10bo3b2o2bo$12b2o4b2o$13bo$12bo$12b2o! #C [[ THUMBSIZE 2 THEME 6 GRID GRIDMAJOR 0 SUPPRESS THUMBLAUNCH ]] #C [[ THEME 6 AUTOSTART GPS 3 LOOP 12 ZOOM 12 HEIGHT 480 THUMBLAUNCH THUMBSIZE 2 ]]

A similar reaction can also be achieved with the eater bridge eater, but its fast recovery time disallows a P12 oscillator, and also disallows period-multiplying reactions like the one shown in 65P48 weld.

The name of this object uses "reagent" in a nonstandard way. A stable structure that recovers without permanent damage after an interaction is more commonly called a catalyst. By a similar analogy to chemistry, reagents in Life are usually active reactions that assist in converting another object from one form to another, but are used up in the process.
