Switchwave is a wave made of switch engines that travels at c/12 diagonal. It can be stabilized by two wings of David Bell's 4-engine Cordership; for example, a 20-engine Cordership based on the switchwave is shown below.

Two of these switchwaves are used in the first constructed Cordership, 13-engine Cordership. Note that the form shown in the infobox is not unique; the 13-engine Cordership utilizes another wave in the center where switch engines are one diagonal farther and the resulting sparks live longer.
