Rob's p16 is a period-16 oscillator that was found by Rob Liston on February 9, 2020 using Adam P. Goucher's apgsearch,[1] and first noticed by a human the next day.[2] It is the smallest known period-16 oscillator in terms of both population and bounding box, the first p16 to appear naturally, the first known strictly volatile p16, and the first new rotor discovered by asymmetric soup search since the 1980s. It also gives off weak sparks,[3] which can be used to filter an LWSS stream resulting in a reduction to the period-16 pseudo-glider gun.[4]

A 17-glider synthesis of this oscillator was found by Tanner Jacobi the day of its discovery.[5] Liston found a second Rob's p16 soup on June 30.[6]
