R49 is an dependent elementary conduit, discovered by Luka Okanishi on October 4, 2019 based on a suggestion by Entity Valkyrie.[1] After 49 ticks, it produces a Herschel turned right with a displacement of (-1, 22). It contains a BFx59H reaction, but the Herschel predecessor hits the BFx59H, and not actually a B-heptomino. Its recovery time is 59 ticks.

The pattern as shown in the infobox has a ghost Herschel marking the output location. The pattern is notable in that, unlike other dependent conduits like the Lx200, this conduit starts with a five-tick predecessor and not three. It is the first such conduit.[citation needed] A second copy of the conduit is included in the pattern, to the left of the working copy, with a ghost Herschel marking the correct input location.
