Figure eight on 36P22 is a period 88 oscillator composed of a figure eight and 36P22. Although it is composed of two oscillators of smaller periods (8 and 22 respectively), it is considered non-trivial because it has a single cell that is alive in generation 31 and dead in the other 87 phases of the oscillator. In terms of its 50 cells, it is the second smallest known period 88 oscillator, after 49P88 with only 49 cells.

Generation 31 reveals the single cell that oscillates at the full period (in green).
