The 34P14 shuttle is the second smallest known period-14 oscillator. It was found by carybe on September 24, 2018 using apgsearch,[1] but was not noticed by a human until October 11 of that year.[2] It consists 4 blocks hassling a {bi-block + 2 loaves} predecessor. A 20-glider synthesis of this oscillator was posted by Mark Niemiec on October 12.[3]

Uses

It produces duoplet sparks, and is capable of reflecting a p28 glider stream.[4] It can potentially replace the p7 bouncer for any glider stream of a multiple of 14, as shown in the period 28 glider shuttle below:

x = 42, y = 42, rule = B3/S23 25b2o$17b2o5bob2o2b2o$17b2o5bobo3b2o$24bo$22bo2$22bo$24bo$17b2o5bobo3b 2o$17b2o5bob2o2b2o$b2o5b2o15b2o$b2o5b2o3$bo7bo$3o5b3o$o9bo5b2o5bobo$b 3o3b3o7b2o5b2o6b2o5b2o$16bo7bo7b2o5b2o$4bobo3$35bobo$b2o5b2o7bo7bo$b2o 5b2o6b2o5b2o7b3o3b3o$16bobo5b2o5bo9bo$31b3o5b3o$32bo7bo3$32b2o5b2o$15b 2o15b2o5b2o$10b2o2b2obo5b2o$10b2o3bobo5b2o$17bo$19bo2$19bo$17bo$10b2o 3bobo5b2o$10b2o2b2obo5b2o$15b2o! #C [[ THUMBSIZE 2 THEME 6 GRID GRIDMAJOR 0 SUPPRESS THUMBLAUNCH ]] #C [[ GPS 14 LOOP 28 THUMBSIZE 2 ZOOM 10 HEIGHT 480 ]]

It can also reduce the tetradecathlon, a discovery by Jason Summers on January 26, 2004, where a pentadecathlon's phase is changed -- originally by sparks from large p7 pipsquirters. A 57-glider synthesis for this version of the tetradecathlon was put together by Ian07[5] with the help of Mark Niemiec[6] and Dave Greene[7] on December 27, 2019.
