### Can confirm Fewest cell glide gun?

Hi:

Can you confirm if this pattern is the fewer cell glide gun in terms of initial cells?

Thanks in andvance.

# Neri Glider Gun (p120).
# 31 cell population at start.
# Discovered in june 26, 2019 by P. Alberto Neri.
# Based in Simkin glider gun.
x = 20, y = 33, rule = B3/S23

Unfortunately I'm pretty sure this doesn't count since it's only a predecessor to the gun. If I'm not mistaken, the minimum population is the lowest that infinitely occurs if the gliders are excluded from the population count, which is why the minimum population for single-barrel guns is still listed as 36 cells on the wiki. EDIT: P.S. if you enclose the RLE in code blocks (as shown below) you can add a "show in viewer" option to the post which shows the pattern using a custom web plugin: Code: Select all # Neri Glider Gun (p120). # 31 cell population at start. # Discovered in june 26, 2019 by P. Droping the bomb:

Code: Select all

x = 20, y = 33, rule = LifeHistory
18.2A$18.A3$15.2A$16.A2$18.A$18.2A12$8.A$7.3A$6.2A.A2$2A$A$.A$2A8.2A$10.A3$7.2A$8.A! But it is a predecesor, I managed to get the B and one block with 3 gliders (some file somewhere), so I do not know what is the lowest glider construction for this oscillator/gun. This is probably the smallest predecessor of this gun or any known gun (21 cells):

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 33, rule = B3/S23
12b2o$12bo3$9b2o$10bo2$12bo$12b2o13$b3o$bo2bo$o4$4b2o$4bo3$b2o$2bo!
x₁=ηx
V ⃰_η=c²√(Λη)
K=(Λu²)/2
Pₐ=1−1/(∫^∞_t₀(p(t)ˡ⁽ᵗ⁾)dt)

$$x_1=\eta x$$
$$V^*_\eta=c^2\sqrt{\Lambda\eta}$$
$$K=\frac{\Lambda u^2}2$$
$$P_a=1-\frac1{\int^\infty_{t_0}p(t)^{l(t)}dt}$$

Might as well reduce the bounding box without affecting the population:

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 33, rule = B3/S23
