Maybe we could make something out of that p7 weak grin spark.
Well, it supports another p7 bumper variant (but I'm not sure how useful that necessarily is):

Code: Select all

x = 28, y = 22, rule = B3/S23

This might be known, but a group of p4 sparkers contain a versatile "sliding domino" component I'd like to share:

Here's a smaller p7 pipsquirter; not sure if it's known.

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 20, rule = B3/S23
5bo$5bo2$3bo3bo$b3obob3o$o4bo4bo$b4obobobo$4bobo4b2o$b2obo2bob2o2bo$2b

3bo3bo3b3o$3b2o2bob2o2bo$8bobo!
I "went down" from the same front end of the classic pipsquirter 2, but haven't searched exhaustively.
Best wishes to you, Scorbie

Wow. Definitely not known. It fits almost completely inside the bounding box of one of the standard high-clearance variants of the p7 pipsquirter on the LifeWiki, and even leaves an empty row that would allow the bouncer's eater to be replaced with a higher-clearance oscillator, if the period worked out.

Code: Select all

It would help if you explain why you need it. I might guess that you want to complete the following potential gun:

If so, I don't know of any compatible sparker.

Maybe, but it's trivially constructible anyway. Still it's a nice demonstration on Block-keeping components.

It appears to be an unnoticed variant of caterer on figure eight with a smaller bounding box than the known version. Nice observation!

Wow! Congratulations -- that's something that doesn't come along every year, or even every half-decade. That's the first unknown oscillator period to show up since 2013. Do you have a name for it, or should it just be 122P23? (unless someone can reduce the stator, but I don't see any likely optimizations offhand.)

Only four periods left! (19, 38 41, and 34 if we insist on non-triviality.)

EDIT: A little misuse of SlowLife makes it into a symmetric oscillator with mod eleven-and-a-half (so to speak):

Code: Select all

x = 46, y = 41, rule = SlowLife

Congratulations! That's a clever way to use the beehive-push reaction. Life is now one step closer to being omniperiodic.

Very nice indeed, there is the obvious variant too that somewhat expose a weak spark, but I see no use to it sadly.
