Here are short, wide variants of Scorbie's p6 sparker using alternate p3 supports:

The first was useful in reducing the p24 gun. I doubt the second will have much use, if any.

Was it found with dr?

These are great! Is it too much to hope that we can get a p26 reflector?

Here is a stator minimization (with respect to both bounding box and population):

Nice p13 oscillators, Bullet51 and A for Awesome.

Here is a p5 version of the edge-shooting reflector (does that reaction have a name?) Repeat time: 40gen. Brought to you by the "Bigger is Better Oscillator Factory". (Truth be told I did cut the rotor down slightly from the first solution, and the stator is not excessively big, but both can probably be reduced.)

45.2A.ABA.A.2A$46.A.A2.A$46.A2.2A$45.2A!
There are numerous options for the secondary part of the reaction, I just chose the first reasonably small one that worked.

As mentioned previously, p4 looks to be pretty much impossible without some really fancy multiple interaction reaction. And as mentioned on the Unsure Discoveries thread p8 looks to be beyond reach. I haven't tried p7.
The 5S project (Smallest Spaceships Supporting Specific Speeds) is now maintained by AforAmpere. The latest collection is hosted on GitHub and contains well over 1,000,000 spaceships.

Semi-active here - recovering from a severe case of LWTDS.

It's really quite astounding that you pulled this additional TL hassler out of the aether. The spark here is a bit stronger, so it can be used to activate the block+pond reaction for another nice p26:

Code: Select all

x = 32, y = 40, rule = B3/S23

Was it found with dr?
Yes.

Doesn't that give you a "stable" p26 reflector you wanted?
Possibly not, because the repeat time of a bumper is longer than 26 ticks.
Still drifting.

Sorry for the multiple posts.
Here's a slight reduction to the p4 thumb. More attempts are encouraged:

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 19, rule = B3/S23
6bo$7bo$3b2o3bo$3b4obo$7bob2o$3bo3bo2bo$b2o3b2obo$bo3bo3b2o$bo4bobo$2b

$3bo3bo$3b2o!
I wonder if they're useful for anything or merely of historical value...

A brief report about p4 "rattlesnake"s and block destroying components. (Not sure what to call them...)

This p4 pattern is stabilized by an snake, just like a rattlesnake.

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 15, rule = B3/S23
5b2o$5bo$6bo$5b2o2$2o2bo4bo$o3b2ob2obo$bo2bobo$2bobobo$3b2o2b3o$4bo6bo
$2bobobob4o$bobob2obo$bobo5b3o$2b2o7bo!
This "component" doesn't seem too important, so just read it casually.
Worth mentioning is that it briefly appears as part of the p5 eater inside the p5 bouncer.
Here are some variants that have max clearance on one side. (Numbers denote the width of the oscillator.)

(Edited a minor stator reduction)
It can destroy a block and support it. Which makes some sort of tug-of-war.

Code: Select all

Block tug-of-war
These snake oscillators can remove blocks. They can also support a block being removed.
Combining these two makes a kind of tug-of-war.
I'm pretty sure snake-support <=> block restoration.
But to destroy a block, there are many options.
Here's one using a component I used to reduce the diagonal sparker before.

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 24, rule = B3/S23
o7b2o$3o5bobo$3bob2obobo$4obobobo$o6bo$3b2o2b2o$2b2obobo$2b2obobob2o$b

Finally, there are oscillators that are stable with or without the snake. Here's an amusing (but not valuable) example.

Code: Select all

x = 64, y = 18, rule = B3/S23

These are not necessarily durable oscillators. :(

Edit: The p3 snake-assisted oscillator doesn't have a particular use, but it allows this interesting reaction stolen from the p5 bouncer. It can't eat anything, sadly.

It can also be stabilized with dock, aircraft, eater:

A couple new oscs, including two related small-ish p7s (a couple uninteresting low-period ones included for completeness):

Nice discoveries :) Maybe we could make something out of that p7 weak grin spark.

Here's a minor reduction of wildmyron's p5 version of the reflector.
