Well, those pre-TLs make a pre-interchange, so there are a lot of options to check. Really I think there are only 87 that include the right population sequence, though.

Unfortunately the current version of the script can't separate different orientations of the pre-TLs -- we should probably rewrite it to use apgcodes or some other hash value that notices differences in orientations of subpatterns. But it looks like all of these have two pre-beehives for a predecessor, or else converges to the same evolutionary sequence too soon:

So the 2bo$2ob2o$2bo! ancestor of the TL is in the wrong orientation and gets mixed up with the completed pentadecathla.

The two-glider interchange and all of the above three-glider variants also fail to work for an additional reason. The two gliders would interfere with the pentadecathlon-making gliders. The following shows this and also the pre-TL wrong-orientation problem:
