Close, but not quite. This does work as shown; however, the gliders could not have gotten to their current positions - six of them would have interacted previously (e.g. try moving each glider back 10 spaces and see what happens).

Since each half of the starting pattern takes at least 3 gliders to make, this would take at least 7 if a single-glider cleanup existed, and since there are already several ways of making a tumbler from 6 gliders, there doesn't seem to be much point in optimizing this synthesis, unless you have some special reason for it (e.g. you want to edge-shoot a tumbler, e.g. to create a tumbler-on-tumbler pseudo-oscillator or somesuch).

EDIT: Yes, it can be done with one glider, and yes, it can edge-shoot a tumbler next to an existing tumbler. I'm not sure how to make the starting chunks, though. I had originally though they were the glider+block methuselah that evolves from a wing (which can be made from 3 gliders), but they're not.

Omg, sorry I did the same and I thought it should be easy to get both from 2x3 gliders - but it seems to be not the case.

Where did you find that predecessor in the first place? If it was from a soup, it might be possible to work from an earlier generation.

EDIT: It turns out that there are also two sideways-connected tumbler-on-tumblers (cis and trans). I have never seen a way to edge-shoot a tumbler sideways, but it might be possible to ignite one from a pair of bookends, given the right sparks:

Congratulations, guys! This does, indeed, work for the P80, and will likely make several other similar P5n oscillators possible. (The synthesis is slightly fragile, in that some dying sparks reach the same line as the fumarole spark, so it could potentially interfere with the body of any oscillator this is placed near the corner of.)

EDIT: In particular, it does not work for Fumarole on Achim's p11; the synthesis would interfere with one of the stabilizing blocks three times before the fumarole forms.

Even though it looks like a simple synthesis I am not able to reduce the number of gliders. The single 'elements' need only 2+2x2+3=9 gliders: a teardrop (2G), two traffic light predecessors next to a block (which evolves to loaf+blinker, 2x2G) and the two blocks (3G) but they do not match well.

Yes, this 12-glider synthesis is the same one I have, except in mine, the gliders in the final step were flipped horizontally and 15 steps back. This one is thus smaller and tighter. I have updated mine accordingly. (The skewed eureka is the same, except with one half moved sideways two spaces.)
