I really think that this rule can be used as a computer, because it has internal structure. Its usual background is an oscillating zebra stripes/chicken wire pattern, but in the interior, it has a replicator, a wickstretcher, many oscillators, and several spaceships and puffers.

I have yet to see any of the patterns you describe (besides a few oscillators). Could you post some examples?

Something like this:

Code: Select all

OOOOO...OOOOO
.....OOO.....
OOOOO...OOOOO
.....OOO.....
OOOOO...OOOOO
.....OOO.....
OOOOO...OOOOO
.....OOO.....
OOOOOOOOOOOOO
.....OOO.....
OOOOO...OOOOO
.....OOO.....
OOOOO...OOOOO
.....OOO.....
OOOOO...OOOOO
.....OOO.....
OOOOO...OOOOO
Extend the base chicken wire pattern. Length 2 generates a replicator, length 3 (shown) generates a wickstretcher, length 4 generates two spaceships, and length 5 and above generates two puffers, with a few exceptions, which generate more spaceships. Similar patterns generate similar objects.
