### Re: tlife

Here's a stamp collection of the currently known orthogonal ships organised by velocity and period. I haven't been completely thorough in searching this thread for known ships so I may have missed a few - please let me know if that is the case. I also haven't tried to give attribution in the stamp collection, mainly because I don't have a good way to reference all the ships yet. Suggestions? As a bonus, there are a few ships I've found: several slightly longer variants of the known c/2 ships and a p4 c/2 which is almost identical to Life's "mwss on mwss 1" in one phase; another c/3 very similar to the two asymmetrical ones already known and a few more at c/3 with odd bilateral symmetry; and two 2c/5 ships, with odd and even bilateral symmetry.

I particularly like the c/3 which is pulling a pi along behind itself.

The Schick puffer and breeder are especially nice. wildmyron wrote:Here's a stamp collection of the currently known orthogonal ships organised by velocity and period. I haven't been completely thorough in searching this thread for known ships so I may have missed a few - please let me know if that is the case. There definitely aren't any you missed - the only ships before this post were the c/2 I found early on, its variant(s) with different back sparks, and EricG's gfind finds, all of which you've included. a p4 c/2 which is almost identical to Life's "hwss on hwss 1" in one phase Awesome! I'd say it's more like MWSS-on-MWSS, though, because of the belly spark and length. Does it look synthesizable? This phase Code: Select all x = 9, y = 5, rule = tlife 3o3b3o$o2bobo2bo$o2bobo2bo$2obobob2o$o7bo! looks familiar, although I can't put my finger on it. Going back to the sawtooth idea - is there any chance that a 2c/4 rake could help make a moving one? It could also help if a sparky sub-c/5 ship were found. I also wish there were a way to search for diagonal ships, since a switch-engine-esque puffer/rake could help with the original sawtooth design: Code: Select all x = 37, y = 41, rule = tlife 33bo$33b2obo$34bobo$35bo5$25bo$25b2obo$26bobo$27bo5$17bo$17b2obo$18bob o$19bo5$9bo$9b2obo$10bobo$11bo5$bo$b2obo$2bobo$3bo3$bo$obo$b2o! edit: I don't think there are any interesting reactions with a glider and the 2c/4 ship; the ant and T are better, though. I stumbled across this whilst exploring the idea of synthesizing the ship from a pair of t-ships instead of from a pair of Bs.

Edited to add: Here's a (probably not very useful) c/4 diagonal ship which is glide symmetric. The frontend is interesting though and looks like it could be split in half as a smaller glide symmetric ship.

If a link to the spaceship stamp collection is added to the first post I'll try to keep it up to date, and probably add diagonal ships once a few more are found.

x₁=ηx
V ⃰_η=c²√(Λη)
K=(Λu²)/2
Pₐ=1−1/(∫^∞_t₀(p(t)ˡ⁽ᵗ⁾)dt)

$$x_1=\eta x$$
$$V^*_\eta=c^2\sqrt{\Lambda\eta}$$
$$K=\frac{\Lambda u^2}2$$
$$P_a=1-\frac1{\int^\infty_{t_0}p(t)^{l(t)}dt}$$

If someone can place these snakes, then yes:

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 22, rule = TLifeHistory

This method is based on the preblock + G = LWSS reaction in normal Life, but I had to modify it heavily to adapt it for use here. Keeping junk and interactions at the back from destroying the ships was frustrating and was solved mostly due to luck - there's only a couple generations you can attack it with gliders before they're doomed, and you have to also avoid destroying the front of the ships...

I tried another method with eaters first, which was far cleaner, but an interaction between the two halves at the back killed the ship and was clearly unaccessable, and so I had to scrap that method.
