Holy Cows! You discover quite fast! Never though a mango could turn into a TL in only two gliders!

Three different ways to destroy mango with single glider (took me 2 minutes to find them all) + Mango->TL with two gliders:

Code: Select all

x = 51, y = 90, rule = B3/S23
25bo$24bo$24b3o$49bo$48bo$2b2o18b2o18b2o4b3o$bo2bo16bo2bo16bo2bo$o2bo

2o6$33b2o$33bobo$33bo6$37b2o$37bobo$37bo!

EDIT Funny enough you could produce TL from beehive as well (why in hell anyone would place there 5 gliders??):

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 13, rule = B3/S23
6bo$5bo$5b3o2$2b2o$bo2bo$o2bo$b2o3$12b3o$12bo$13bo!
EDIT2 Here is a task for you: find 10 more mango->TL using timed glider pairs (that means you don't need to wait for the first interaction to finish to start a second one).

Well I never seen a natural toad before in soup searches, after years(!), but now I found a way to turn a AC into an unnamed still life (who knows the next Eater 6):

Code: Select all

#C [[ THUMBNAIL AUTOSTART GPS 2.6 LOOP 8 THEME 7 ]]
#N Aircraft carrier to big snake (aka anaconda or eater line eater or Eater 6)
#o Gustavo Ramos Rehermann (Gustavo6046), March 10 2015
#R 15 -9
#r 3/23
#C I know, maybe never going to be even a tip notable :P
x = 6, y = 4, rule = B3/S23
2b2o$obo2bo$4b2o$2bo!
Its theoretical would-be eating "animation":

Code: Select all

#N Eater 6 eating?
#o Gustavo Ramos Rehermann (Gustavo6046), March 10 2015
x = 11, y = 7, rule = B3/S23
5b2o$4bo2bo$4b2obo$7bob2o$b2o4bo2bo$obo5b2o$2bo!
Stabilize!

Code: Select all

#N New stabilized eater siamese
#o Gustavo Ramos Rehermann (Gustavo6046), March 10 2015
x = 7, y = 8, rule = B3/S23
2ob2o$o3bo$b3o2$b3o$o2b3o$2o4bo$5b2o!
Now I need to synthesize the snark's Farg (previously unnamed SL that was in one part of snark), as my new goal.

Years of what? Toads are 11-th most common object. They present in 5% of soups - that means you need to run about 20 random patterns to get a toad. See this haul just as an example.

BTW why are you posting random SLs?

That first pattern is called a "Big S". You only see them occasionally, but they show up about once per every three pulsars you'll find. It does not have any eating action we know about, nor any synthesis use that I'm aware of besides as a base for some trivially-synthesized SLs.

I don't see what the siamese thing you posted does. Welding still lifes together is not a new idea; we do it all the time when Herschel conduits would otherwise be slightly incompatible.

The main catalyst of the snark has already been synthesized by Ivan Fomichev (codeholic on this forum), and Freywa (I'm not sure which of their signature names is their real name) has already named it the Petersen--though that name is not in use; we usually just call it "the snark catalyst".

By no means is that claim true.

All oscillator periods above 43 can be realized using snarks and glider loops. The only periods that were unknown when this page was last updated (years ago) are 19, 23, 34, 38, 41:

Multiples of 30, being easy to construct from GGGs and simple doublers/triplers like that, are just another example of low hanging fruit that was discovered in the early 1970s.
Physics: sophistication from simplicity.

I must say it was easy, though I originally tried to do a MWSS gun -- and this don't make me stop begging for help with my gun. Also, c'mon, not in the early 1970s it would be found -- if it isn't notable, then why isn't its LifeWIki page marked for rapid deletion? Also, if it is so common and easy to do, why can't I find any in LifeWiki?

First of all, do you realize you need THREE gliders to create a MWSS?
Second, That's not even an oscillatore, these are three distinct oscillators.
Third, this page is utterly useless, and I hope dvgm will delete it
Fourth, damn, stop trying to make pages for every isngle of your undiscoveries...
Fifth, there isn't a page for every variations of the HWSS on LWSS because they are easy to build and it's better to do one single page.

First of all, do you realize you need THREE gliders to create a MWSS?

First, this is the only page I do in LW in much time, and I'm not doing a page for every of mine discoveries ulimately.
Second, I could easily turn it into a single oscillator... somehow.
Third, it weren't my intention if it is utterly useless, but because of each oscillator's period it is notable somehow.
Fourth, I am not doing pages for variations of the HWSS on LWSS.
Fifth, I didn't realized that almost every single oscillators of that size have a different volatility.
Also, is 1388P180 (one 686P180 variant) "three distinct oscillators"?

For what it's worth, here you are Gustavo: an unoptimized MWSS p180 gun. Observe that it produces a MWSS from a three glider collision, which can be found in the MWSS page of the wiki under "glider synthesis". I also used a much smaller p180 variant of the GGG included in a collection of guns discovered a long time ago.

I make no claim with this post to be a discoverer of any new gun or anything, and I am confident that if I looked through the patterns released with Golly that some more clever p30n MWSS gun would have already been created, but I wanted to help you see how such a thing could be built.

Also, LifeWiki has a page called "Omniperiodic" that gives the same information about which periods are unknown. Explicit p180, (or p30n for other n) oscillators are not considered notable enough for their own LifeWiki page; maaybe there is an exception if they have a completely different underlying mechanism than the Queen bee shuttle or PDs.

But the bounding boxes interpolate and (maybe) truncate between themselves, meaning it is officially and technically considered one single oscillator! In special the southwest stream which almost cross the southwest 180p gun and pipsquirt kit!
And why did you separated the pipsquirters? Shouldn't they be the reflectors (and technically not independent oscillators)??
Also, you didn't told me your (real) name.

That's NOT a criteria to define an oscillator.

This pattern is in golly.
Meet the heisenburp.

Code: Select all

x = 139, y = 157, rule = B3/S23

I like it, but i would rather need a multitude of snarks and/or pipsquirters to reflect these into a single line... maybe even impossible! I meant something that accepted one single glider and emitted output two PARALEL gliders!

For two output parallel gliders, how far apart do they need to be? (There's a way to do it with Herschels and edge-shooters, but it might be overkill.)

12 so that both can be reflected by pipsquirters (they have smaller period, bilateral size & repeat time than Snarks, even if it is unstable, also I know it has period 6, but MMC(6, 4) = 180, in which 6 is pipsquirter repeat time & 4 is glider period)).

No, it doesn't. An oscillator must, first of all, be a single object, where all living cells are either adjacent to the others, or interact with the others. If you consider a Life pattern as a 3-dimensional structure, with time as the third dimension, guns resemble vertical poles (guns) with diagonal fingers (gliders) coming out of them. Two interacting guns will have fingers that touch each other. In all objects, each cell in an object must be reachable by touching or interacting with another cell in the object, either through space or through time. In your examples, you have several distinct objects that do not interact with each other in any way. Bounding boxes do not matter. Even sparse non-interacting glider streams would not count, because in 3 dimensions, their "fingers" would be passing between each other without touching.

While I admire your enthusiasm, you should try to listen to the advice of those who have been playing with Life for a long time and have had much more experience (for example, I was first exposed to it in 1970, and have been playing with it off and on for 45 years now.)
