What is that rotationally symmetric P10? I've never seen it before.
It's in jslife. It was originally found by myself in a random agar search on April 10, 2010.

A complete p14. Unfortunately, there seems to be nothing simpler than the 1320P7. Despite the eater 2s and the same separation difference between honey farms as the existing p14 honey farm hassler, this is an unrelated oscillator
The eater 2s can be replaced with fishhooks.

Unless you are talking about the whole oscillator (both sparks) then yes, it has nice clearance.

I don't think it has much clearance.
For clearance I was referring to the period 36 spark given off by the traffic jam, rather than the p4 sparker... I certainly don't know of any other p36 isolated dot sparkers with reasonable clearance off the top of my head, and it wouldn't surprise me if the spark might be needed for something at some point...

The traditional supports give more clearance on the left, but they don't work on the right (unless they're flipped, which defeats the point):

This p12 traffic light hassler should be completable in one of two ways:

1. Double p6 domino sparker. Note where the sparks will be at generation 6; they won't interfere.

Code: Select all

2. The sparks can be placed farther out one generation later. I tried two different welds, but neither one works. (The sparks work fine, but the welds don't.)

Alright, I'll try JLS once I get a chance.

Also supportable with snackers:

When doing my search, here's a p116 partial that could become a glider gun if completed, since it emits Herschels. However, the sparks need to be p58 or p116. The reason why I put it in this thread, though, is because it creates temporary Big Ses.

Code: Select all

x = 22, y = 62, rule = B3/S23
9b2o$9b2o16$9b3o$8bo2bo$11bo$o7bobo$3o6bo$3bo$2b2o3$13b3o2bo$11b2obobo

2o$18bo$12bo6b3o$11bobo7bo$10bo$10bo2bo$10b3o16$11b2o$11b2o!
Interestingly, rotated, it's a p62 partial, although the Big Ses won't show if completed this way.

Code: Select all

x = 24, y = 22, rule = B3/S23

The reason why I put it in this thread, though, is because it creates temporary Big Ses.
I moved it to the oscillator discussion thread anyway, because it is primarily about a potential oscillator.

This p12 traffic light hassler should be completable in one of two ways:

1. Double p6 domino sparker....

2. The sparks can be placed farther out one generation later.
In the second case the pattern is p10, not p12, so it can be completed with fumaroles:

Code: Select all

x = 27, y = 22, rule = B3/S23

This p12 traffic light hassler should be completable in one of two ways:

1. Double p6 domino sparker. Note where the sparks will be at generation 6; they won't interfere.

Code: Select all

snip
2. The sparks can be placed farther out one generation later. I tried two different welds, but neither one works. (The sparks work fine, but the welds don't.)

Code: Select all

snip
The second mechanism here actually makes the hassler period 10, not period 12 - it's not equivalent.

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 9, rule = B3-jqr/S01c2-in3

A P2 eater would be great, since it can be used with the honey thieves to create a non-trivial P34 oscillator.
Right now, there hasn't been a P2 eater that could fit with honey thieves. Here is an example with a P13 oscillator:

Code: Select all

x = 23, y = 18, rule = B3/S23

A P2 was also necessary to complete the P26 queen bee shuttle:

Code: Select all
