This really, really close p120.
There are at least four other methods of sparking it that work.

I think this is the fourth highest mod elementary active region after Karel's p177, the p144 on the previous page, and the p246 bookend shuttle (mod 123).

(Edited to mention p144 - I initially disqualified it due to the Herschel track but forgot that the central region is continuously active and not made of smaller components)

We have a P59 gun. Can that help?

The relevant LifeWiki article doesn't mention this p28 stabilization using a compact pre-pulsar shuttle:
The block and pond reaction is mostly interesting when it is used to multiply the period of some lower-period sparker. p14 supports for the p28 oscillator were found previously, first using a p14 bi-block hassler, then using the 34P14 shuttle. There are also p10 supports for the p20 oscillator. I don't know of any p11-to-p22 examples, and p17-to-p34 and p19-to-p38 obviously haven't been found.

Also, I moved your post to the oscillator discussion thread.

I'm mostly done with my C2/C4/D4 program, since I seem to have done all the common patterns. (I thought I was done before until I realized that my C4 program only did odd symmetry. I've done even symmetry now.)

For some reason, I thought this was a p69 partial. It turns out to be p70, and I've completed it!

Nice, that's smaller than my stabilization! That's a really nontrivial little catalyst-y reaction.

Ponds can also be interspersed in the middle of the wick.
This means that even without a fencepost, we can still stabilize this wick in a loop.

I searched my program for the 10-cell pattern that C28 found... complete P217
Does that mean that the pattern gets a name now? I propose that we call your oscillator the p217 quadruple U-turner hassler.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

That's quite a long name. I don't think "quadruple" is necessary unless someone finds a monomer or dimer like what happened with my p76 pi hassler.

It can simply be called the p217 U-turner hassler if you want—or in fact anything else that you want. I just felt that the felt that U-turner is singular could be misleading.

I think Raucci's p217 is fine, given many others named for their discoverers (15, 28, 31, 37, 40, 51, 138, 144, 177, and several others). I don't want to use my first name because there are at least three Davids in this community.

This phase has a minimal population of 236:

It's not the smallest p217, a Snark loop would be even smaller. This one is much more interesting though

yeah that'll work.

I think we should probably decide on an official name for the object first. "U-turner" always makes me think of something turning a "U".
Each day is a hidden opportunity, a frozen waterfall that's waiting to be realised, and one that I'll probably be ignoring

If we follow the usual guidelines, the discoverer gets to name the discovery. That happened a while ago, and the name is Raucci's p217. Not sure everybody noticed that.
