Freeze-dry reaction?toroidalet wrote: ↑March 24th, 2021, 7:49 pmMy apologies. I had one but I forgot I was supposed to post it.
A reaction that turns an uninteresting but complicated still life into an interesting non-still life. (Not "component")

Nope. Think a big giant mangled thing rather than a constellation.

Re: Guess the pattern
That's also a relatively simple constellation. I'm talking about a giant mangled still life that you bash into something more interesting.

Re: Guess the pattern
The "pattern" was "activation step", so I'll award that to Anonymous Glider. I'll PM you the next target by tomorrow.

Isn't final step activation?toroidalet wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 3:07 pmThe "pattern" was "activation step", so I'll award that to Anonymous Glider. I'll PM you the next target by tomorrow.

Re: Guess the pattern
I suppose you're right. It's not as close, but it was first, so wwei35±12 gets the pattern instead. Luckily, I had forgotten about this whole thing and hadn't decided on one yet.
EDIT: wwei(x^2-70x+1081=0) has been sent the message.

It's a sparker that is supported by another sparker of the same period.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

Re: Guess the pattern
Maybe Hunting figured that since you were the one who chose the pattern, and that is your profile picture, you would be likely to think of that.

Re: Guess the pattern
104P9 is wwei's favorite pattern not just his profile picture. And when you mention "period".MathAndCode wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 10:59 pmMaybe Hunting figured that since you were the one who chose the pattern, and that is your profile picture, you would be likely to think of that.
Ok now here's mine:
Something that served the same purpose in LeapLife and Life.
(Apologies - but if I limit the hints to usual CGOL knowledge it would be figured out soon.)

Re: Guess the pattern
Very close, very close. I'm sure you'll get it with this final hint: It is not the bottleneck in LeapLife, but it is the bottleneck in CGoL.
Re: Guess the pattern
Ouch.
Each day is a hidden opportunity, a frozen waterfall that's waiting to be realised, and one that I'll probably be ignoring
