Re: Catagolue Oddities
For some reason, higher symmetry soups in hex rules only show the C1 part:
https://catagolue.appspot.com/hashsoup/ ... 403/b2s34h
https://catagolue.appspot.com/hashsoup/ ... 403/b2s34h
B2n3-jn/S1c23-y is an interesting rule. It has a replicator, a fake glider, an OMOS and SMOS, a wide variety of oscillators, and some signals. Also this rule is omniperiodic.

Re: Catagolue Oddities
Known issue; Catagolue just doesn't know yet how to convert them to the correct symmetry. You'll need to use lifelib for now to retrieve these soups.creeperman7002 wrote: ↑April 17th, 2020, 2:59 pmFor some reason, higher symmetry soups in hex rules only show the C1 part:

My recent hauls page:
https://catagolue.appspot.com/haul/b3s23/C1?user=Saka
Only seems to give hauls from 2017 and earlier as well as a few I just did. Why? Is this intended?

Re: Catagolue Oddities
I'm going through wiki-names.txt.
Problem with the long^10 boat: wtf do we call long^10?
Long^10 was never referenced in the discussion about alphabetical descriptors (also suggests a different name for long^11), but if we give long^10 "absurdly long" as suggested by simon, "absurdly long" is long^6.
I've put in a placeholder (abhorrently long) until we can figure something out.
In the meantime, bid farewell to "very very very very boat" and "trans-aircraft cattier with tail"!
(after teh merge request of course)
oh btw is there another file because i couldn't find prodigal sign in the file or blse and both of their names are lowercase

Re: Catagolue Oddities
The form on Catagolue's Objects page still uses the old object URL format (with the "object?apgcode=xp0_whatever&rule=b3s23"), a side effect of this is that when you post a comment on one of those "old" pages, it will post the comment, but also take you (back) to the objects page.
Re: Catagolue Oddities
Those specific hauls are shown because they're in unusual categories. The 2020 ones, which are blue, are preserved because they have one of the first twenty instances of some object. The 2017 hauls are red because they failed some sort of verification and thus did not make it into the census proper. The normal "green" hauls are autodeleted after enough new green hauls are submitted.Saka wrote: ↑April 19th, 2020, 9:37 amMy recent hauls page:

Re: Catagolue Oddities
I recently noticed a few strange mis-categorizations in rule B36/S245:
https://catagolue.appspot.com/census/b36s245/
xq4 https://catagolue.appspot.com/census/b36s245/C1/xq4 lists xq4_153 (the "7" form of the Glider) which is not a spaceship (or anything else) in this rule, with 10002833 soups. There is an xp4_163 (the "4" form the Glider) which is correctly listed under the xp4 list.
xs5 https://catagolue.appspot.com/census/b36s245/C1/xs5 lists xs5_253 (Boat) which isn't stable in this rule either, with 1371582 soups.
I couldn't find any other small common Life patterns listed; xs4 doesn't incorrectly include Block; xs6 doesn't incorrectly include Barge, Carrier, or Snake.
I suspect that these are due to apgsearch recognizing common objects by table-lookup, despite the fact that those common objects don't apply to every rule, but this mistake is being made millions of times in this rule alone.

Re: Catagolue Oddities
This was a bug that has since been fixed. Unfortunately the erroneous objects that were submitted under the broken version haven't been deleted yet.

EDIT: okay this is getting ridiculous
"beacon on something"? it's a cis-beacon up on claw with long leg according to my naming conventions but that isn't fine either
EDIT3: also two cis griddles with two tubs has been given the name "why bother" as well as "antiphase why bother"
EDIT4: oh c'mon it's one hyphen ONE HYPHEN

Yes, it's a pseudo-still-life because it's the union of 0 strict still-lifes, and 0 is not 1.mniemiec wrote: ↑August 10th, 2020, 5:46 pmIt currently says it costs 0 gliders, and is a pseudo-object.Ian07 wrote: ↑August 6th, 2020, 10:37 pmxs0_0 apparently costs 3 gliders to make: https://catagolue.appspot.com/census/b3 ... -costs/xs0

Pseudo-still-lifes are two or more distinct clusters (>1), and 0 does not qualify - for exactly the same reason that 1 is not a composite number, since it does not have >2 factors.
