It's the web crawler for the search engine Majestic.

Re: Thread for your website-related questions
On the article for Catagolue it says: "1period-7 spaceship: the loafer". You can't add a space because then there's an error. How do you fix it?
Re: Thread for your website-related questions
Fixed by adding the data to Catagolue/Stats. Unfortunately, this means that the data is now inconsistent in terms of when it was last updated, but it'll have to do for now.
Re: Thread for your website-related questions
I just updated all of C1/G1. It would take a really long time to go through higher symmetries manually, though, so I'm not doing it.

Could there be a different registration question such as "What is the largest spaceship by population?"

Even I don't know the answer to that question. Then there's the infinitely extensible ones. Also, some people joining the forums might not be caught up with the state of the art.
I would suggest changing it now and then, but don't let it get too hard. My suggestion would be, how many 4-cell still lives are there? The answer is two.

Is it allowed for me to upload non-CA contents on LifeWiki user?

Re: Thread for your website-related questions
“Allowed” is much too strong a term. It is much closer to “you are likely to get away with it, as long as you don’t do it very much”.ColorfulGabrielsp138 wrote: ↑May 23rd, 2021, 12:16 amIs it allowed for me to upload non-CA contents on LifeWiki user?
If you do a lot of editing of non-CA content, then the edits will keep showing up in Recent Changes, and that will quickly end up being annoying to people who are monitoring LifeWiki content to try to keep improving it. If you’re not improving the LifeWiki, there’s no particular reason you should be making edits to it anywhere.

Should we have "user categories"?
Should redirect get categories?
Also, this link should link to "glider", not "this"

Re: Thread for your website-related questions
No. See above. I already answered that exact question. It's not "allowed". In some cases it might be "barely tolerated" -- but there are no guarantees.ColorfulGabrielsp138 wrote: ↑May 24th, 2021, 12:47 amIs it allowed in my user page?dvgrn wrote: ↑May 23rd, 2021, 9:01 am“Allowed” is much too strong a term. That's not a question... and it's not the way the wiki tag currently works. If you want to link to https://conwaylife.com/wiki/Glider but have "this" as the link text, you can use a regular [url] tag like this.ColorfulGabrielsp138 wrote: ↑May 24th, 2021, 12:47 amAlso, [wiki=glider]this[/wiki] link should link to "glider", not "this"
Re: Thread for your website-related questions
Hm, maybe I should've clarified this thread's purpose of a general discussion thread rather than trying to make it fit in with the other question-related threads.
Actually, I like æsthetics, so it's staying like this for the time being - at least until it gets brought up again and I really have no choice but to change it~!
dvgrn's response of "no" seems a bit strong for my taste, so let me state my take on it.
Your personal LifeWiki user page is your personal LifeWiki user page, so you're allowed to do basically anything on it that falls within good taste. Limited OCA stuff does fall within a grey zone, so to speak… but the LifeWiki does host quite a bit of OCA content in such places like Apple Bottom's own pages, so it's fine.
However, the LifeWiki isn't your personal general user page. Spamming Special:RecentChanges with updates to collections is not something to be expected as a LifeWiki user, really. It's fine if you occasionally update it, or document patterns like an actual CA wiki (again, sparingly), but nobody really enjoys crawling through mountains of practically information-less changelogs to find the ones they need. This would go much better somewhere else, where the attitude to these kinds of things is better.
Additionally, I would advise against creating too many RLE: pages with OCA patterns. As far as I understand, these get packed up into stamp collections which are assumed to be in Life, and while the occasional OCA pattern doesn't really hurt, if there's an entire section of spontaneously imploding patterns the four or so users of the stamp collections are going to be somewhat confused, which isn't ideal [citation needed].
…not that my opinions outweigh dvgrn's here, but it's good to get them out at least, even if I did have to break the regulation number of paragraphs. Does it count if they're spaced out between responses?

Re: Thread for your website-related questions
Not that my opinions outweigh bubblegum's here, either, but for the record I pretty much agree with everything bubblegum says above.
However, the question was "Is it allowed for me to upload non-CA contents on LifeWiki user [pages]?" If the answer has to be either "yes" or "no", I think it would be fairly dangerous for me to say "yes". If someone wants to "upload non-CA contents", and they think the other users of the LifeWiki won't mind and that everyone will be able to see that it's a good idea, then they can go right ahead, and maybe there won't be any problem.
But ultimately the LifeWiki is intended for CA content, not for non-CA content -- so if you get in the habit of using LifeWiki pages for things that they shouldn't be used for, and you don't listen when someone objects and asks you to stop doing that... then eventually a moderator will probably uncheck your trusted flag.
So... non-CA content in user pages may not be always forbidden, but it certainly isn't always allowed, either.
I don't believe that this should actually be a problem. There aren't any systems that automatically pack up RLE-namespace patterns into stamp collections. The pattern upload system is actually fairly clunky and conservative, and the current auto-upload script only checks RLE patterns that are linked to from main-namespace articles. So unless I'm missing something, RLE that's used only in OCA-namespace articles probably won't show up anywhere confusing.bubblegum wrote: ↑May 24th, 2021, 5:34 pmAdditionally, I would advise against creating too many RLE: pages with OCA patterns. If anyone can find counterexamples to this, definitely let me know!
That said, of course it's better to avoid piling lots of not-very-interesting patterns into the RLE namespace, when they really don't need to be there. There's a syntax option for embedded LifeViewers where you just put the RLE that you want to show directly into the EmbedViewer section of the article. Usually you only need to add something to the RLE namespace if you think it's an interesting enough pattern that it might be worth adding to a collection someday.

Where you want to write these trivia is year 2021 on the LifeWiki, not year 1971 on the Lifeline, so it probably wouldn't be as fun to the Life community as you thought.ColorfulGabrielsp138 wrote: ↑May 30th, 2021, 7:03 am[PLEASE DON'T quote irrelevant posts to draw other's attention!]

Do we actually have other polyomino induction coils besides block, (arguably) pre-block, t- and z- tetromino, z-hexomino, table and the one- or two- dimensional extensions of the latter two?

Were there any difficulities when integrating Paul Callahan's LifePage
that can be avoided in advance by careful planning from a content provider?
Like choosing some specific database etc.
