I start the search with the block and find the solutions that recover only the bottom two bits. And then filter the results that do work. So I think there are much search space not explored even with this particular G5, but I guess I covered the blockbait U pi explosions, which seems to be the most likely.

Just in case if you want to reproduce the results, place tandem*.rle and trim.bat to your ptbsearch folder, change the ptblist.pl to my version #original version added catalysts after existing catalysts got harmed# copy tandem*.txt and paste it into the command line at the ptbsearch directory.
Note: for personal preference, I changed the file.c:39-44 to the following so that it could parse state 1, 3, 5 cells as a, b, c cells, respectively:
