I would say that this is a good general-purpose component, with relatively good clearance too.

Ugh. The object that accounts for most of the reaction is common and therefore should be easy to synthesize, but I couldn't find a non-contrived stabilization.

Try running JLS on it. I assume you have a synthesis for the top, so ask JLS to find methods to synthesize the side spark thing. Try to see where regions can be created by colliding a glider with a still life or oscillator or something like that. If the mess gets too big, start over and try something different. If all goes well, you'll have a completion for that component.

I found a way to add a big S-resembling inductee to a snake-type catalyst using an R-turner and one additional glider (which has at least three options).

I suspect that the R-turner will only cost three gliders because it's common. This would result in a four-glider component, which would reduce xs17_178c1fgkc, xs17_03loz32qic, xs18_069b8ozo8b5, and probably other still lives as well. However, I currently cannot use synthesize-patt.py to look for compatible three-glider R-turner syntheses because I am already using Golly to run hotdogPi's oscillator-searching program.

Here's a reaction that converts a block to an R-turner. I not sure if it's synthesis-worthy, though.
