Also, no c/2 against the grain stretcher is known. I was working on that as well, but without much progress. Grey stretchers are closely related to grey ships, but results are scarce.
Some time back I went looking for c/2ish against-grain edges stripes for other reasons and came up with a whole lot of nothing. I organized my search by what the unmoving period would be since that's ultimately what stabilizing the end would be limited by. Unfortunately being restricted to be compatible with both 2c/4 and 0c/N for lowish N is fairly tough.
Also unfortunately various agars and wicks gum up the searches and so it's a mix of searches (a) starting with empty rows looking for stripes and (b) starting with stripes and searching for empty. Even so I gave up on some which thus only provide a lower bound on width of any possible edge.
2c/4:
period 1: no results (b)
period 2: no results (b)
period 3: no results (b)
period 4: no results (b)
period 5: no results (a)
period 6: no results (b)
period 7: no results (b)
period 8: no results (b)
period 9: no results (a)
period 10: no results (a)
period 11: no results (b)
period 12: no results (b, but stopped 20 rows in)
period 13: no results (b, but stopped 98 rows in)
The next multiple up which is compatible with stripes is 4c/8 which just seems hopeless (although has a very obvious period 1 edge). I had done some very weird prototype searches where the number of disagreements between generations 4 apart was limited per row (so the row was "close to being 2c/4"), but it was very, very slow and nothing ever came of it.
