This would be an NE0, and I can't seem to find any H-to-Gs with an NE0 output, so I guess this would be new.

If something does show up it will seems a little strange, though. This is also the glider that very nearly escapes from an Fx158, but then has to be suppressed to avoid a pi explosion:

So the glider has been well-known since David Buckingham discovered it almost a quarter century ago. Is it really true that in all that time, nobody has figured out how to help that poor glider escape?

Definitely an improvement, thanks! The problem was that I somehow managed to mis-classify it, working by hand from the existing H-to-G list. The script now happily classifies it as the known NE2T56:

So my apologies for the confusion, and luckily something good came out of it anyway!

Annual Appeal
Here I might as well renew my annual appeal for someone to take over and update the H-to-G collection properly. Ideally the H-to-G stamp collection should be buildable from a script, starting with the individual annotated files in the Elementary Conduits Collection, so that repeat times and such are available.

But a good collection could also contain composite H-to-Gs, maybe even including the smallest known way to get to each lane in each direction. A complete collection of H-to-Gs for some range would make it a lot easier to write a simple script to make circuit connections. There's also some potential for making a smaller universal synchronization toolkit, for a one-step script that takes a glider synthesis as input and automatically builds a complete more-or-less-optimized gun pattern.

Dialing down the ambition a little, just cross-checking with Elementary Conduits and adding everything that has been found since 2016 to the stamp collection at the top of this thread, would be a great start -- would make it much easier to look up timing/lane combinations. Some way of marking the H-to-2Gs would also be nice, maybe just by adding the classification label from the glider pair adjustment toolkit.

I'll do the work myself eventually, but right now there's a painfully large pile of things that are higher on my to-do list -- another Lexicon update for Golly, and a much bigger update for the Online Archives, and so on.

The insertion mechanism is the same as the old RNE-19T84, but without the period-doubling or extra-cross-lane-glider side effects. Also the same as the more recent NE-27T176, but that one wasn't an edge-shooter.

I'm still trying to get another glider from that region at the top instead of eating it with three blocks and two fishhooks. I found a way to get a glider from it with a block, but unfortunately, the block is just barely too close to the reaction that would form the glider.

The thing is, I'm not all that good of an authority any more. Maintenance on the H-to-G and H-to-Gn collections hasn't been done properly for several years now -- I just copy new stuff into my own version of the stamp collection, whenever I happen to remember to do that which definitely isn't always.

I'd really like to figure out how to recruit someone to take over the H-to-G collections and get them back up to date, maybe along with a separate lookup table of some kind for H-to-2Gs and H-to-3Gs. I seem to have a few too many stamp collections and suchlike on my plate already.

Anyway, I hope everyone will find that running that script in the first post, starting from let's say a two-state version of any H-to-G including the input Herschel, will be a thoroughly painless experience.

That reaction relies on the catalyst's leftmost two cells removed on gen 8 (otherwise it would make a hard-to-reach HF) so my best bet would be Bellman.

Unfortunately, I don't have Windows, so let's hope that someone who does sees this.

Bellman can be run on Linux as well. There's an ubuntu binary in Bellman-szlim repo. (and compiling isn't too hard)
