The two natural versions are more similar to each other than they are to the minimum-population version (evidenced by the relatively large number of blue and yellow cells compared to red and cyan cells or green and magenta cells), such as a section of the stator in the top-right that resembles an aircraft carrier. This suggests that this type of structure is more likely to form naturally than alternative stators.

Why not just mutate the other burloaferimeter stator variant? It seems easier to me to start from there.

True. But I think that you'd be worse off trying to synthesize an object based off of a soup that forms it at T=11.

It feels like that common blinker predecessor should require fewer than five gliders, even with the constraints. Here's a way to create it from the correct direction using a loaf and P spark, each of which only requires four gliders:

Right. But it seems that they have to be packed so closely together that to my eyes, it seems to be just plain impossible outside of lifecompetes! Goldtiger997 might think differently though,
