Oddly enough, just looking at that new one and drawing in an eater by hand shaves off a lot more rows, though of course the eater intrudes into two new columns at the very bottom so it's not exactly a solution to the original problem any more.

The eater-compatible linkage wasn't there in the original version.

Any hope of bending the p5 90 degrees near the top, and preserving that useful high-clearance side of the T-nose by extending the search west instead of south? Or is this a problem that was already solved long ago? I haven't looked through jslife yet to see what's already available.

It looks like a p13 spark won't work, because after 13 generations there is too much debris in the spark location. Unfortunately, we don't really have any p26 sparkers. For now it will make a good addition to the osc-supported folder of jslife:

Oh, I didn't see that (you may have found out that I have just preserved the first two rows.) I'll try to reduce that if I can...
Update: ofind search found the same LW and MW emulators on a search of their width. Those seem to be minimal of their width.
