That D-shaped thing is commonly known as a cap.

Thus the still life is known as "cap and table" (Catagolue) or "up table on cap" (from http://codercontest.com/mniemiec/lifesrch.htm).

Buckaroo variants have been reported with cis-boat and dock (17M instances), mirrored dock (28M instances), and moose antlers (122M instances). The pentadecathlon has 41M instances in Catagolue; however, it has to be in the right phase of 15 in order for this oscillator to work. So I estimate we're about one order of magnitude away from finding this combination. (Though the bi-pd version won't be found for a long time, if ever.)
