There is one major difference:
In GOBWR rules, cells in the process of being born are treated as alive, and counts toward birth and survival.
In "snoitareneG" rules, cells in the process of being born are treated as dead, and does not counts toward birth and survival.
OK, let me B/W reverse Frogs + S8 first...

There is an unspoken (?) rule that you don't add your own discoveries to the wiki (except under your user page, for example, User:TheOddball524/my_pattern).
LifeWiki:Notability says:
To prevent overenthusiastic edits and conflicts of interest, a commonly accepted rule is that the discoverer of a pattern, inventor of new terminology, writer of a program, etc., etc., should not be the one to document that pattern, term, or program on the LifeWiki.
I think putting discoveries under the user page is also problematic (especially when there are many edits showing in the log of recent changes).
For comparison, on Wikipedia, WP:NOTWEBHOST says:
Wikipedians have individual user pages, but they should be used primarily to present information relevant to work on the encyclopedia. Limited autobiographical information is allowed, but user pages do not serve as personal webpages, blogs, or repositories for large amounts of material irrelevant to collaborating on Wikipedia.
I think the same should be true for LifeWiki (i.e. limiting to information that is relevant to work on the encyclopedia about Life/CA).

I agree that a better way to share a new discovery is a post in one of existing forum threads.

I think the LifeWiki is still small enough that we can tolerate personal discoveries and projects on people's user pages.

I mentioned it was known, I recognized it as a variant of a reduced form used in some p159 thing I saw. The focus of the post was on the method of deriving your own hand-made catalysts (instead of the ones found with scripts) rather than the catalyst itself.

This feels to simple to not be found but anyway I call it the Squadron.
Sorry for saying that, but many c/2 spaceships with various even periods are known.

Better not to double post, as doing so may spam anyone that had subscribed the thread, unless you want to revive an inactive thread, or if the thread is unlikely to have subscribers.
Use the edit button with pencil shown on it, to edit post, if you want to add something to it.
Doing so won't spam the subscribers.

Also, hit the quote ( " ) button to generate the quote above.

Can you give more details on why? I'm still not convinced there is a problem with the current situation. I'd also be interested to hear from anyone else.

By the way, when this is resolved I'll move all this meta-discussion somewhere else.
I also believe that the c/4d technology should be moved to another thread, but refused to say it on the forums until someone else posted about it. The c/4d technology posts currently in the Spaceship Discussion thread should be kept there, but the new ones should go in a new thread

For the same reason that Antonin believes they should be posted in a separate thread. Also, if what you’ve said about the activeness of the Spaceship Discussion Thread is true, then why isn’t the Oscillator Discussion Thread not that active unless something comes in?

I didn't, and still don't, understand those reasons. I would probably need it explained in a different way. Right now I don't see how the c/4 diagonal posts negatively impacts the posting of other content.

Oscillators are, in general, much easier to find than spaceships, so the oscillator discussion thread has a higher baseline level of activity.

It’s just that the posting of other spaceships have drastically declined ever since the c/4d technology came in.

Well, I don't believe posts about any one speed-specific technology could prevent people from posting about other speed-specific technologies. It's just that currently there is interest in exploring c/4d. Maybe at some point in future people will start discovering and posting lots of interesting things in c/6d, or c/7o, or in any other technology.

I think in this case it is better to let all discoveries go in a single thread, rather than scattering them over multiple threads.

I don't think they declined much or at all. Without c/4d discoveries, the Spaceship discussion thread would most likely simply get relatively few posts in the same timespan (which would be more or less the same posts).

All don'ts for reversible rules:
Don't have:
A predecessor to a still life except itself.
A predecessor to an oscillator except one of its phases.
A spaceship eater.
Any spaceship collisions that annihilate each other or leave a single spaceship.
Any live patterns that die out.

Is there a CA rule with a period-3 oscillator that evolves the same way as the caterer evolves in Conway's Life, except that the three phases go in reverse order?

It's not a reflector. It produces a lightspeed ladder crawler which eventually collides the end of the ladder:

'Random posts' is so full of gems. Being the only one AFAIK who seems to be doing research in the rule Factorio, here are two posts in the 'Random posts' thread I found interesting,

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2703&p=87741#p87741

Factorio seems good for a Space Invaders-style game. Most small objects (and larger ones too) have a 1-factorial destruction, and so one can envision random small objects appearing all over the place, and a movable factorialship shooter to destroy all the objects.

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2703&p=114303#p114303

There are several rules that could fit in this argument, not just LeapLife! (Factorio included.)
