Fun fact:In Serbian my username is an abbreviation: Б.О.К.А.Б.Б (Блентава Опсесивно - Компулсивна Агресивна Будала над Будалама(or alternatively Будаласта Будала))(Dazed Opsessively - Compulsive Agressive Fool over Fools). I discovered that just accidentally, however.

Fun fact: AFAIK no Geminoids in a rule without stable splitters were built, and no Geminoids in a rule without one-still-life-splitters that is not Life were built.

Fun fact: After only a few days of searching I became the third biggest contributor to the b2n3s23-q/C1 census. Despite this, I only added a still life list to the census page.

Fun fact: I bet the next list to appear in the b2n3s23-q/C1 census is xs31. Anyone want to bet? If your prediction was right I will apgsearch your rule a week - if my prediction was right you'll have to apgsearch b2n3s23-q/D4_+2 500000000 soups.

The slowest spaceship ever recorded in any cellular automata still goes faster than the fastest humans have ever traveled. Us going at the speed of sound on a Golly grid would be seen as a still life until the moment we move one. Assuming c/n is the speed of spaceships in CA where c is the speed of light

assuming you mean elementary? in life, you could get arbitrarily slow spaceships, and in int rules you can get smol ones that go really slow

Because I love being super pedantic, let me point out that the slowest explicitly constructed spaceship in Life is the Camelship, which travels at about 240m/s which is less than the speed of sound. (embarrassingly, I had to look up the speed of light)
The slowest explicitly constructed spaceship with a minimum population of 1 is this, which has a crazy number of digits (the exact value is 2^6911+6913). The post also links to another one which has small ships with speeds 2^2^2^2^2^..... with n 2's.
But yes, elementary spaceships in non-totalistic rules are generally super fast.

Oops forgot there was that one. :?
Other than the constructed ones, the elementary ones move fast compared to human travel yes.

An actual fun fact: A lot of names have really interesting origins.
For example: Dukljan, the Croatian folk demon, is derived from the Roman emperor Diocletian, who was infamous for persecuting Christians.
Or cologne (male perfume), named after the city, which comes from Roman Colonia (colony), which in turn has its own origins that I don't recall.
The English female given name Madison comes from the surname Matheson, meaning "son of Matthew", originally the Hebrew name מַתִּתְיָהוּ‎ (Matityahu), meaning "gift of Yahweh (God)".
The English name of the city Aleppo (in Syria) is the Italianized version of the French name (Alep), which is in turn derived from the Arabic Halab (ﺣَﻠَﺐ‎), believed to derive from a Semitic word for "white" or "milk" (or maybe a metal like iron or copper, which were mined there). It is also one of the oldest cities in the world, and is believed to have been inhabited for over 7,000 years.
The US state of Colorado was originally going to be named Idaho (purportedly a Native American word) until it was revealed that the delegate who suggested it had taken it from the name Ida, and so they named it after the Colorado (red) river instead (this is why the city of Idaho Springs is in Colorado).
Or what about the dollar, which comes from the Austrian Thaler, from the Joachimsthaler coins which were mined in the eponymous town of Joachimsthal (Joachim's valley), now Jáchymov
Words tend to be shuffled around and combined in unusual ways, and over many centuries it produces all these convoluted etymologies until eventually the original meanings are lost.
Any sufficiently advanced software is indistinguishable from malice.

Ice cream may be originated in China.
The last word of this sentence is "Hello".
There's an XKCD article closely related to the sentence above.
The letters W, X, Y and Z are very uncommon in the French language, so they score 10 points each in Scrabble.
Christmas pant**ime is banned in China.
There'th thomething called "LISP"
There is a website where different people can have the same username but different passwords. It also has a chatroom that doesn't require login.
If the inventor of Scrabble read ColorfulGalaxy's English textbook rather than The newspaper, then the letter Z would theoretically score only 6 points.
"Goodenough" was a surname.
ColorfulGalaxy is male despite his feminine username & avatar.
New Year's Day is coming in 2 days
The song "Dream It Possible" doesn't have "beyond" in its lyrics.
The "it's a still life" icon of Catagolue is called "moose antlers".
ColorfulGalaxy finished a complete list of heptominoes and octominoes by hand.
He also made a list of sines and cosines
Leonardo da Vinci was male, despite his feminine Ch***se name and the lady in his famous painting.
Conway's Game Of Life wasn't invented yet when I was born

I know him very well

There is a species of finch on Wolf and Darwin Islands in the Galápagos that feeds on the blood of the Nazca and blue-footed boobies by pecking them. For some reason they don't seem to mind though.

if you pull apart plastic candy wrappers at the seam where they are glued

and if you do it in a dark room, and observe this very closely

you will be able to witness light being emitted

Long Island is only the 11th largest island in the United States. And yes, eight out of the top ten are in Alaska.

The first (2,1)c/3 spaceship found, with a population of 8 cells, was superseded by a smaller (6-cell) spaceship of the same speed in the same rule. (The record is now 5, which is the minimum possible...)

Fun fact:male reindeers (but not female) usually lose their antlers in the late autumn or early winter, far before New Year and Christmas. Because of that,Santa Claus's reindeers,if they exist, are likely girls.

I almost can't believe it. I don't want to sound like one of those people that say that they're sad just for the sake of saying it, and frankly I didn't know much about him before, but it is a tragedy nevertheless. And it wasn't only him that died. There was also Gianna, his 13-year old daughter, baseball coach John Altobelli, five other passengers, and the pilot. RIP.
