Now that lifeviewer supports margolus rules, I think we should have a thread for them.
This rule tends to produce blobs of multiplying dots, since population is not conserved.

Can anyone find a non-reversible margolus rule which is like life in that it has:
  • A common ship, which travels below C
  • No spaceships at the speed of light
  • Non-conserved population
It is fortunate that the viewer can run non-reversible margolus rules


Emulates explosive Moore neighborhood CA (I think) and brings literal meaning to "block cellular automaton"
