This is yet another multi-state rule. It has a simple replicator (which can be used to construct arbitrarily high-period oscillators) and an extensible wickstretcher. The replicator and eater made into an oscillator:

What often happens is that one or more replicators form and they hit the large blob repeatedly, making it grow until it develops into an eater like the one posted above.

This replicator-based oscillator contains eaters that flip between two states each time they are hit:
