Just might have figured out hlife3.

alife looks like the boss battle of this. It is NOT B3/S234w, as the bookend is not a predecessor of the c/42 diagonal (which actually does not exist in B3/S234w). Help here is begged for.

As it turns out you're right: alife differs in two transitions, not just one. It's actually B3/S234iw, not B3/S234w.

yup. This is most probably because I left out the numbers for the rules in the "var a={0,1,2,3,..." line.

When I add them in, though, all cells die in every generation. Or at least for guntlife and reptlife, haven't tried with the other three.

I think this might be a little off-topic, but yes if you use a rule table and 3 states.
If you have both rule tables, you can combine them easily.

I see why. The new rule entries encode survival by specifying that the cells will die in certain conditions, and to do nothing in all others. Of course this means that these have not been updated, and so will be wiped out by the death transition at the end. You can tell them apart since they have transitions that end in 0.
