Is there an integer N >= 0 such that the following statement is true? If yes, what is the smallest such N?
For every integer p >= 14, a true period p glider gun exists in some two-state isotropic rule with range-1 Moore neighbourhood which is at most N toggled Hensel conditions away from Life.
- In Life (0 toggles), the missing glider gun periods are 14-19, 23, 26, 29, 31, 35, 38, 39, 47, 53.
- B3-c/S23 (1 toggled condition) has a p16 glider gun.
- B3/S236c (1 toggle from Life) supports a p26 glider gun from B3/S236.
- ObliquePufferLife (B34q/S23-k, 2 toggles from Life) has a p23 glider gun.
- Salad (3 toggles) has a p29 glider gun.
- B3-ckq/S2-c34ci (6 toggles) has loop guns with period >= 33.
- Wildfire (30 toggles) has a p18 glider gun, a p31 glider gun, guns with periods >= 21 and other stuff

Nay. For there to be every period of oscillator and spaceship, there has to be an infinite number of soups and objects, which is impossible.NimbleRogue wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2024, 7:27 pmHas anyone found a rule where C1 contains every period of oscillator, and every speed of ship(even unreduced ones where it's non-trivial? Ah, I see how my wording was bad, I meant that all periods and speeds contained in the other symmetries are also contained in C1(while being nontrivial, eg. there are objects of the other Symmetries, and high period stuff), I did not mean that every period possible is in C1.Haycat2009 wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2024, 7:38 pmNay. I would consider those to be trivial, B3/S seems to have only P2's, and B/S012345678 only still lives, so I would consider those to be super trivial. The most important thing is the rule contains a variety of oscillators, and ships, with high-period ones. It does not need the 30 or so this rule has, but it should pass as a reasonable rule to searchNimbleRogue wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2024, 8:40 pm(while being nontrivial, eg. there are objects of the other Symmetries, and high period stuff)

Note that for all the replicator rules, a predecessor is guaranteed (even if the pattern is infinite) but it may not necessarily be unique. While for finite patterns the existence of two different patterns with the same descendant guarantees the existence of a garden of Eden, this is not the case for infinite patterns. I'd say a (15,2)c/2023 oblique spaceship could be described as a sqrt229leapership, as its Euclidean displacement distance is the square root of 229, and it's otherwise bound to be a nameless leaper.
