Rule idea: Life Without Death, but a cell loses one survival condition for each generation alive.

So state 1 is b3/s012345678, but then becomes state 2 which loses s0, all the way until state 10, which by losing s8, follows b3/s and thus dies.

All cells are born in state 1, and any state 1-10 cell can count to birth.

Life with slow death, perhaps, unless someone has a better name.

It seems to function but it's a lot more boringly explosive than I thought. Perhaps it needs some engineering to find interesting patterns - certainly no still lives, but perhaps oscillators or spaceships are to be found.

2 state cellular automata that is 2d
The rule does not have to be isotropic(and as a result can either be totalistic or non totalistic)
On a kxk toridial universe, given a random initial configuration and random time t, the probability that a given cell is alive should be exactly 50%
The rule explodes.
The rule has a very high period in a kxk toridial universe.
The rule explodes for almost all initial conditions.
The rule is one way.
The rule is omniperiodic
Cryptanalysis is hard for this rule.

This rule will be used as a step in a CSPRNG algorithm I have an idea for. Basically convert a 64 bit int into a 8x8 universe, run the rule for enough itterations, take the output, apply some fancy other stuff, repeat a few times.

What are the properties of the periods of random soups on a 8x8 torodial universe? Are they short on average?
EDIT: I've realized I could just make the grid 64x64 or 128x128, and just take 64 bits from it sampled in some deterministic way, making the period inconsistent and weird, but too high to be of any practical concern

RuleAndLife as an addition to a rulestring like B3/S23History (LifeHistory).

For example, B36/S23AndLife should have HighLife and Life cells.
The state 0 and 1 is basically just off and on cells of the custom rulestring.
State 2 is Life cell.

When a dead cell had a state 1 and 2 state 2 neighbors, it will birth as the state 2, otherwise it'll birth as state 1 cell if the neighbors amount is satisfied.

Here is an example of the state of a dead cell (marked red) in B36/S23AndLife about to birth at next generation:

I think this is not going to be useful, particularly the part that a wire is only destroyed by 8 life cells, because most wires are not going to be single dots, they are going to be actual wires with other wire neighbors taking up space. So a simple domino of wire cells would be immortal.
