Look what turned up in muzikbike's "Lots of Ships" rule:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 16, rule = B2e3eij/S2-in3n
2o2bo3b4ob3o$ob2ob2o3b2obobo$2bo2b2ob4o2b2o$3obobo3bo2b3o$bo2bob3obo2b

obo2bo2bobo$b3o2b4ob5o$o2b2o5b6o$b7ob3o3bo$o2b3o3bo2bobo$obobobo3b3obo
!
Good thing I saved the rulestring, because I can't find the original post anymore.

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B3-q4z5y/S234k5j

Reductions to some of the patterns in bismuth's second rule:

Code: Select all

x = 59, y = 7, rule = B2n3aeiqr4ae5air/S23-air4
17b2o23b2o$2o11bo4bo8bo12b2o2bo12b2o$obobo7bobob2o8bobo3bo6bo4bo7b2obo

2o4bobobo2b2o4bob2o2b2o$obobobo8bo2bo20b2o2bo8bobobo$17b2o22b2o12bo!
It's stable because it doesn't have B3jn.

OH WHAT 2 ELEMENTARY GUNS:

Code: Select all

x = 18, y = 7, rule = B2eik3eiy4e/S23-ace4z
8bo$8b2o$4bobo7bo$3bob2o$3bo9bobo$2ob3o5b3ob3o$b2o2bo5bo5bo!
and 2 variations of the second one:

the double-z's is p23... and the other one is 19. i don't know how to feel that this rule has 2 common guns of the 2 lowest missing periods in life.
EDIT: also this:

I manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules. I also wrote EPE, a tool for searching in the INT rulespace.

Things to work on:
- Find (7,1)c/8 and 9c/10 ships in non-B0 INT.
- EPE improvements.

8c/28, like a cordership:

Code: Select all

x = 22, y = 22, rule = B2cei3a4-w5y/S14i5cn
12bo4bo$11bo5bo$16bo3bo$17bo3bo$18bobo4$11bo$11bo$18bobo$bo6b2o7bo3bo$
o17bobo4$2bo$2obo7bo$4bo5bobo2$2bobo5bobo$3bo7bo!
Said rule has a failed replicator (that is both 1D and 2D) that turns into this ship:

Code: Select all

x = 45, y = 3, rule = B2cei3a4-w5y/S14i5cn
o12bo6bo21bo$8b3o2bo4b5o17b5o$o12bo6bo21bo!
I don't know how to turn the f-rep into a shuttle and gun.

I was messing around with rules whose still lives are also Life still lives, and I found B35n/S23-ceky. It doesn't have the glider but has this loaf-toggling ship:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 12, rule = B35n/S23-ceky
b2o$o2bo$bobo$2bo3$2o$ob2o$2o2bo$2o2bo$b3o$2bo!
Then there's this bizarre pattern which I think is technically a (4,12)c/63 puffer:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 16, rule = B35n/S23-ceky
bboobobbbbbobobo$
ooooobbbbobbooob$
obobobbobbooobbo$
ooooobbbbobboooo$

booboobboobobooo$

oooooobobbbbboob$
obobbbbboboobobb$
oboooboobbbboobo$
ooobbbbbobbbbobb$
bobbooobobbooboo$
oooboboboobobbbb$
bbbboooobbbobobo$
bobobboboobbboob$
bobboobobbbobbbo!
In other respects it behaves a lot like life. It's still got all the blinkers, blocks, loaves, eaters etc.

EDIT: apgsearch found a 2c/6 ship:

Code: Select all

x = 34, y = 21, rule = B35n/S23-ceky

I've seen this fuse before (but not LaundryPizza's termination, oddly enough) mentioned about a year or two ago back when Generations was more popular, and it could only really be used as a tagalong for some sufficiently slow construction.
You're more than welcome to try and assemble something but I'm not sure what you'll get out of it.

(2,1)c/2 looks like it exists:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 4, rule = B01e2ce3aeijr4ijz6cei/S1e2cei3aenr4r5n6ak

I'm saying that it looks as though one is possible in some rule.

That's tantalising, but I'm not sure that it's as suggestive as you're thinking. It certainly allows a (2,1)c/2 wave to exist which can be stabilised at one end:

Code: Select all

#C (2,1)c/2 wave
x = 10, y = 24, rule = B01e2ce3aeijr4ijz6cei/S1e2cei3aenr4r5n6ak

4bo$2bobo$4bo$3bo$bobo$3bo$2bo$2bo$obo!
You can see that in successive even generations the wavefront erodes. It seems to me that the only way to support the other end of the wave is by adding an extra row to the front of the ship. If a variation of this pattern allows the frontend to survive for even one period, then I think you have pretty good evidence that such a ship exists.

I had a look through the database in the alien ships thread to see if there are any rules which support both 3c/4 diagonal and 4c/4 orthogonal but I couldn't find anything. I think that finding such a rule would be a good start to finding better candidates for p2 knight-ships

Small p29 using one of your 14-tick pushes:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 7, rule = greycells
