What is, as far as I know, the first 2c/7 diagonal ship in any rule:

Well, this is an interesting "very nearly exploding" rule. (The p9 reminds me of the p7 in the first Generations rule I explored in that topic.)

I actually suspect apparent infinite growth patterns might in fact be stabilizing at astronomically large ages, given the following mechanisms:
1) Collisions within outgoing diagonal spaceship streams create new "outposts" of junk;
2) Pre-existing activity spreads outwards into vacuum stronger than through debris.

So at some point some "outpost" along the line (possibly not even the first, but perhaps a secondary or tertiary one) might grow fairly large but end up stabilizing; at this point activity initiated by incoming spaceships from the center will remain on only one edge of this outpost, and slowly fill the pattern inwards rather than outwards. Activity could thus eventually "box itself in" and finally fizzle away once it's consumed all available space.

(But it's unclear how much secondary outposts, separated orthogonally from the center, might complicate things.)
