Re: Thread for your script-related questions
Is there a tool that can be used to determine and display the minimum repeat time/best compression of a spaceship - something that outputs 14 for the glider and the LWSS, 16 for the MWSS and 196 for Sir Robin? E.g. neither LifeViewer nor Catagolue provide this information (although I understand thi...

Might be missing something obvious here as I tend to do, but the patterns in this post are showing up as "New Pattern", despite being very much not empty. The rule ( Rule:BBM ) didn't previously exist, but creating it on the wiki did not fix the issue. Even more strangely, the following RLE (taken f...

Re: Thread for your script-related questions
How do you apgsearch custom rules? First, copy the rule file into somewhere in the apgmera folder, ideally in /lifelib/rules/source. Then, it can be invoked like so: ./apgluxe --rule 'lifelib/rules/source/KnightGoL.table' .rule, .tree, .table, and .ruel (i.e. Nutshell) files are all supported. Some...

May I please get a “trusted” flag? I’ve been playing around with the game of life for some time, and I could tell you more, but there’s an inaccuracy in the page 30.P3 that I’ve just been itching to correct. If you’d like to know, I specialize in the motifs of low-period oscillators. What's your us...

I don't know when it was submitted to Catagolue. How do you obtain the date of submission? This is a two-step process: Check the backups of the synthesis-costs census, which are made on the 5th, 15th, and 25th of each month. In this case, the May 15th backup shows xs18_69bo3qic costing 5 gliders: "...

If I understand correctly, an orphan is the set of cells required to be either on or off for a pattern to have the property of being a Garden of Eden, and it can therefore be extended in any way past that and still be a GoE.ihatecorderships wrote: ↑June 7th, 2022, 1:35 pmWhat is the difference between a Garden of Eden and a orphan?
