If I read that right, could this be considered an analog of a screen shot from Golly after a run with the envelope script, but with some added functionality in that multiple layers are saved to a single layer in different states and are distinguishable?

Life History Rule Question(s)
I've noticed that many posts are now being mode in Life History Rule Format vice .RLE type coding. Is there an advantage to this approach? Is it a viable option for practitioners of periodic vs. spartan construction? I've only recently DLed Golly 2.2 (had to for the 2010 vote, I think), and expect I...

Re: Pattern of the Year 2010 competition
Would it be relatively convenient to include links to the original posts for review's sake?
I suppose I could search out the subjects individually if not.

Re: triller's p30 thread
I haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd add some archival material I've collected. First, some LWSS/glider collisions. 1) Head on. These all work @ p30, but results vary depending on whether gliders or LWSSs are missing from the streams. #C LWEatGHeads x = 99, y = 180, rule = B3/S23 96bo$95bo$9...

I'd have to look to be sure. They're resident on an alternate platform.Just how large of files are we talking about here?
Good to have round numbers, though. I'll see how they ZIP.
Thanks, Nathaniel.

Size Limitation for Courtesy/Convention
Greetings: I haven't seen this issue raised, so I may as well. Is there some reasonable guideline/concrete limit as regards the size of a post. This would of course include any code snippet that was companion to a description. I have a number of large engineered mechanisms I'd like to share, but no ...

Re: ON-OFF Control for a Gun
I've done something like this at p30 with LWSSs. I'll have to dig that up and post it. Makes a great latch. You can set or reset it from almost any direction.

Re: New Heisenburp Reaction
OK, mainly looking for SS-glider p30-based heisenburps.
Just posted a device on triller's p30 thread with a MW to glider heisenburp.
Has a p60 LW to glider burp as well.

Re: triller's p30 thread
P30 Sniper Gun I developed this device after building an 8 byte read/write memory "rank". I needed some way of collating stacked ranks so that a single receiving device would be all that was required. Data from a p30 MWSS gun is heisenburped and the MWSS continues on to a xWSS to glider converter. ...

Re: Practically Limitless Spaceships
P.P.S. I need help with a p20 sideways HWSS rake with speed c/2. Jason Summer's site has glider generating rakes for a great many periods. Given the number of 3 and 4 glider collisions for the HWSS, it should be simple enough (and quite compact) to generate a p60 rake for a HW. Then just arrange th...

Re: triller's p30 thread
My First (and only) Rake I call this one Mr. Phelps. The rake is actually composed of 11 p60 rakes and some turners from Jason Summer's collection. One is rearward firing. Two pairs of forward firing insert two more gliders in kickback reactions. I couldn't find a smaller method of injecting the fo...

Re: triller's p30 thread
p30 to p60 to p30 converter Here's something a little more aggressive. This is a device I designed as an interface component for a very large mechanism that's still in progress. Data in is blocked at the 3 eater walls top right and bottom left. To gate data delete the blocking eater. The other two ...

triller's p30 thread
Greetings all! I'm a new member, and must say I like this site. Not only for the great variety of contributions, but also for the esteemed list of contributors. My primary interest is in periodic circuitry, and p30 at that. I've found that if you can conceptualize a mechanism, you can build it. Ther...
