Re: Your ultimate question for Game of Life
An attempt at N=2 is the maximum we could construct, since the enumeration goes (1,0,2), (1,0,3), (1,0,4); we would need the c/4 orthogonal before the glider. I've actually created the pattern for N=2. It uses the glider to 25P3H1V0.2 converter I posted in the "Construction pratice" topic. I've att...

It's taken me 4 days, but I now have completed a glider to 25P3H1V0.2 converter! It has a minimum repeat time of 520 generations. I've attached it below with a p520 gun as it goes over the character limit. I'm quite annoyed at the huge space that is every where but the north-west corner. Can somebod...

Re: Linea (B2-a3-i/S23-a)
Your wickeater isn't extensible because the units are c/3 spaceships which you should recognize from your collection and don't actually interact. Sorry, I don't know how I didn't notice that. Also, this works for your "transformer" if you need it to. That's not quite what I meant. I was talking abo...

Alternate backends are nontrivial if and only if they interact with the frontend (i.e. the spaceship is not trivially...

For wickstretchers I say they aren't trivially related if they stretch wicks in different locations in a nontrivial way (I probably haven't strictly followed this): rle I would go ahead and say that patterns are trivially related as long as they can be assembled by substituting in parts from other ...

How can zfind be modified so that when the depth limit is reached, it prints out the partial it already has as usual, but then continues the search for more spaceships? It sounds like you want to use the 'm' command, which sets a max length for the search. Setting an 'm' value will cause the search...

The "p6 k1 w9 g" search outputted a partial with a depth limit error like other wickstretchers found in this rule with ntzfind. But for some reason, the partial doesn't work at all. Your ultimate question for Game of Life
Two questions. Since they are related, but can have very different answers, either just one or both questions can be answered. If you went to sleep and woke up in 100 years, and checked the forums, what would be the first question you would ask or the first discovery you would look for? If you had a...
